Super performance! I was there Saturday August 11th in the afternoon. The sun was unforgiving and kudos to the cast for remaining focused and, seemingly, unaware of the warm, warm weather. Also kudos to the guy who served water throughout. (This guy was a life saver!)
This show was performed just as I imagine Shakespeare would have in his own days. It was simple, yet creative and well delivered and designed. The costumes were interesting, and without a set time period, but it actually worked. I’ve seen so many Shakespeare plays where the cast tries to do a ‘modern’ or ‘timeless’ version, but I’ve always thought that it was a cheap way of getting out of making costumes for the time period. This, however, worked really well!
The cast did an incredible job on their characters! I especially was awed by the performances of Margaret and Henry! Great job to you both!
The jokes were my kind of jokes, subtle but somewhat random and weird. “My Lord, get back in your chains.” for example, and “Will you come with us?” “Well… it is better then staying here and being hanged!”
And the fight scenes, made of duct tape balls and banging on boxes and cans, were classic!
the only problem I had was with Joan of Arc. Why was she in there? It bothered me that she just sort of disappeared and never showed up again…
Oh yes, and the puppets were wonderful as well. I loved the King of France and the ‘English Dogs’!
One of my favorite parts was when Joan of Arc (as a puppet) was burning. I LOVED the ’smoke’!!
Keep up the great work!!
